I just joined this group tonight. I look forward to hearing about all the preps others are doing. I am Wanting to learn as much as possible before it's too late. So hit with it folks,....

First question, what do you all prefer, a fire piston, or a mag block and why?

I assume your talking about fire starters. I prefer a reliable lighter but, I keep a fire steel handy just in case. I've always found the magnesium block a pain and unreliable.

I agree with Roninsensei regarding your question, but I use the rule of 3...lighter, magnesium rod, and also a mini magnifier. I also try to maintain in my EDC...three different ways to kindle a fire.

I prefer a good Zippo lighter, or some windproof/waterproof matches, but yeah, I'll keep a fire striker handy too. As another mentioned, good to have at least three ways. All else fails, I can use my eyeglasses.
