I have for many a year used honey to sweeten my mornin coffee, my grandma did that and I guess it just took.
I have a recipe that I concocted that is an modification with the honey.
I call it "Hard Honey".

Just take a container that has a pour spout and cap that can hold at least 12 oz, pour in 10oz honey then add 1/2,3/4 or 1oz of your favorite whiskey and mix.
I have discovered that it takes less honey to sweeten to taste with this mix but be warned the pleasant after taste may force you to have more cups of coffee.
Oh BTW I use Crown Royal in my mix.

I only use honey on oatmeal, but I am a big proponent. Sometimes called "Viking Chicken Soup" it can used used midecinally for many things. Ssonb, I love your recipe.

I may just have to try that with some Brandy

Where I lived in the ...far frozen north... I had a neighbor about a kilometer down stream that kept bees.. He typically kept 50 to 100 hives.. When ever a bear went through the yard, I would alert him.. Sometimes I would hear his 300 magnum announce a problem being taken care of..
Then one summer I didn't hear anything from his direction.. Later I found out he took a steel shipping container, built a deck on top and kept his hives on the deck.. He set up and used an extension ladder to climb to the deck.. By taking down the extension ladder down the bears couldn't get to the hives but left scratch marks 2 meters (6'6") high all around the steel container.. Many have said ...all it takes is a hot wire around the hive... Truth there was the wire had to be barbed and tight enough to hold cattle to get through the bears fur to effectively shock them bad enough to discourage them doing damage.. Bears would eventually walk through most all kinds of hot wire hive protections..

To me the best honey was early season made mostly from fire weed blossoms.. It was lighter and a bit tart compared to late summer product..

I had a neighbor when I live near the 56 north parallel that kept bees.. He kept a lot of bees and produced a lot of honey, but always had trouble over wintering his hives in that region that far north..

It appears Slovenia is at about the 45 north parallel.. I imagine that helps that kind of hive work well.. Likely worth trying for those that keep a significant number of bees..
