Hello All,

Just hoping that everyone had a good holiday this year. At first, didn't look like we were going to have much of a Christmas. Between an $1100 unexpected truck repair, and the electric not waiting 2 days for me to get paid, we had jack squat 4 days before Christmas, and no shopping done yet (due to those expenses). But, a little Christmas miracle had an influx of money at the last minute, so we were able to do all we wanted after all, just about.

Well, let's all hope for a good year!

I think everyone in this country, and probably the whole world, have forgotten what the holiday is for. Since I’m not religious I think it should just be about being with friends and family. Of course we get caught up in the commercialism along with everyone else, but to me the gifts are secondary. Getting together to cook, feast and just be together is by far my favorite part.

I guess I am the Grinch,,,,no gifts given and none wanted,I am just happy to have survived another year,,,,,I still wish you all a Merry Christmas and more importantly a safe New Years

you have to watch out for the drunks if you go out,,,me I get what I need early and will not even start the truck New Years Eve,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,be safe everyone

My days of going out to party and ring in the new year are behind me as well. A good fire, nice meal, and my pit curled up in my lap sounds like a good evening. Happy new year to ya.

True enough, and we were all set to just enjoy that, the company of family and friends, but a little cash helped is all. As it is, my kids had no money, so made us gifts, and we appreciated it. My daughter made my wife this homemade borscht she likes, and made me some homemade gravy (which we had with the turkey). My son made my wife a wood carving of the Targaryen symbol from Game of Thrones, and made me the pages to my Necronomicon (prop for my Ash cosplay, from Evil Dead).

We're still big kids at heart though. Kind of funny, as we, the parents got more "fun" stuff, whereas the kids got more practical stuff (as they are both getting an apartment together in Feb). My big present: a full on Force Awakens Luke Skywalker costume....kids big presents: Pioneer Woman pots and pans set, Keurig, etc. (as they will otherwise have zero kitchen stuff, lol)

I do enjoy having a night on the town for New Years. Last year, we went to a big swanky expensive party (good to have friends, because I wouldn't have paid that much for it)....and that was a lot of fun. This year though, I think we'll be much more subdued, and maybe just over some friend's house, etc.

Even when out though, we take a cab or Uber around, so we can drink and not worry about it, and even then, we typically get a hotel close by, so we don't have to be on the road much, if at all. Over our friend's, we'll likely just stay the night to avoid it.

spent christmas at work, new year too,if this flu will allow me to work as I don't think me being so important that they won't manage with out me ;)

Yeah, it was a nasty flu season. My whole family had it for over a week, and a severe one. Made my homemade flu soup more than once that week. (homemade chicken noodle with carrots, celery, spices, add shredded cabbage (you don't even taste it), add some onions, diced peppers, a little bit of hot sauce)....really clears you up, and just makes you feel better.

We had a good Christmas, the Wife and I are home alone the 31st and the New Years Day. We are going to BBQ some bourbon/pepper rubbed ribs watch a couple of movies and open for the first time my Willett Pot Still reserve bourbon, Wife is going to make up some homemade sweet potato fries for snacks ...anyway, that's the plan.
