Hey folks- new to the team, but not to the game. I was looking for advice how to reinforce my BOV windows with a fence type from the interior, to reduce the look of being protected. Any suggestions as to how I can bolt thru the plastic trim securely enough? ('03 Suburban)
Dont bother its only going to attract attention to your vehicle and more likely make things harder for you. Think Gray man making your vehicle look as bland, boring, uninteresting as possible BUT CAPABLE. If the OPFOR are trying to smash your windows you have already F**ked up big style. I would use clear laminating film on the front doors and dark grey laminating film on the rear doors and back glass, Then you could affix mesh to the inside of the rear windows.
The best BOVs are generally CAPABLE vehicles ( long range, ground clearance, extra fuel, HD commercial tyres, puncture repair foam in tyres. Extra switches to disable lights, carry spares belts, bulbs, fuses, relays, filters, tyres, sump guard, extra mounting rubbers on the exhaust etc) .
I believe the best option for BOVs is to make them sensibly as CAPABLE as possible, but do NOTHING to them to attract attention to them by hanging racks, bull bars ( unless black) carriers, spot lights (just fit high quality after market HL bulbs and LED stop/ tail/ flasher bulbs) etc
When TSHTF millions of hungry eyes looking for wheels because they have no preps of their own.
