How to network

Just wondering how would you go about looking for other like-minded preppers before tshtf. I am looking for a group of preppers 2 meet up if something were to happen with that being said how would I go about looking for people in my area without letting everyone else know that I'm a pepper

Talk to folks in Army/Navy stores, outdoor sporting goods stores, gun shops, etc. Just mention it jokingly as when the zombies come, and it usually fosters a more serious discussion. Of course, websites help too.

is that the reason I visit my favorite surplus army store so often ok, I like to look at that stuff and sometimes you make great finds at their junk-corner

All the time. Great place to get work boots too. I also like the jackets, as I don't have to worry about them getting all messed up in the brush on the property. When it rains in the summer, certain areas get to be like a jungle.

but seriously it's difficult, I know, was visiting the finnish survival/prepper website, some of them,actually quite alot of them think that nothing will happen and if something will happen it's on the other side of this globe

take notice to what folks have when you visit them.or when you drive past their home,look into their garage if it happens to be open.pay attention to what folks are buying when you go shopping.and how much of items.talk with neighbours and friends about the natural bad weather conditions and disasters of your area/state..and there's yard sales,estate sales and flea markets.chances are,it'll be difficult to pick out preppers like that at least at first.but you'll get use to on what to look for by thinking along the lines of what you would be buying in the way of prepps and all..

If your area is prone to a certain type of disaster (for example hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc.), then this is usually a good way to start a conversation about prepping. These are more accepted reasons to prep, so won't get the "doomsday prepper loonie" assessment.

you all know nothing happens here in Fin, well just yesterday in my neighboring town, there was a black-out..no electricity and the reason was lightning strike,it was only relatively short time,but...on the westcoast and centralparts of the country ,flooding 'cause of heavy rain, thank God nothing happens here..ever...

Vern their are those that do "Facebook" their preps. I am not a facebook person, but I've used my wife's account to do some searching. I've met a few of them face to face, but we are of different mind-sets. A few are what I call the "Dangerous" prepper, think that prepping is all about guns and tactics (they are the ones that will be an issue for me, since they didn't bother to follow the "five" prep standards.

Like Jim and Gazrok mentioned above...its just being aware of people and their interests. For me, your not going to see me as a prepper, unless you know me. I live in neighborhood of a small city and nothing say's I am a prepper, other than my solar array and my video cameras (nothing stands out that I am a prepper). My trailer is stored at a site, my primary lead BOV is located at a friends garage outside the city. Unless your like Jim, who drives by and is keenly aware of what too look for, you will miss much of my gear because its all packed in go kits on shelving units. The majority of my preps are stored outside the city limits, cached or stored at least 2 hours away by vehicle.

I and another well respected member of this site use to belong to a state prep online site, but opted out because of their change in tone. Your going to just have to gauge people as you meet them.

I don't think their is exact science or magical checklist. Its going to be one of those fit test things...either it works or doesn't. Know that doesn't help you, but just thoughts.

The USGS have been telling us to organize in particular along the coast to be prepared and set up a buddy system in the event of an emergency, you can check with your local emergency managers and see if they hold group meeting, you can also post here if you haven't already:
