I think you are missing the point old friend, Whats gnarking me me so much is the Media especially lefty media loves to ridicule, condemn and abuse preppers but they are also vindictive and petty enough to make concious efforts to expose what preps people have undertaken. The BBC about 18 months ago did a couple of pieces on UK prepping / Bushcrafting / Survivalism NONE in a good or impartial way. Then they tried to find out where some of these preppers BOLs were so they could visit with the film crews. They were trying to wreck peoples preps just for a few minutes of airtime.
