Whilst the insanely rich are building bolt holes in New Zealand, Czech Republic, Norway, Colorado, Wash state etc the not so insanely rich but still very wealth are tunneling like mad under London adding two or three new floors with swimming pools, freezer rooms, hidden entrances, generator rooms, workshops etc. Then the ordinary wealthy are buying into gated secure communities.

The only thing I see that it accomplishes is making it harder to case the neighborhood. I suppose it makes everyone "feel" secure which is really the goal. The security in most gated communities is laughable, Fort Knox they ain't. They certainly don't have enough security to keep anyone out that is determined to get in.

Most gated communities have HOA's run by neighborhood Nazis. Not for me...

I have 3 gates leading up to my house and another 25-30+ gates scattered around the property. I guess I live in a "gated community" too. At least I'm in charge of the HOA here.
