There are many things I must do to become an effective ninja. One of them will be the art of being sneaky, being able to elude someone or sneak up on someone. Another thing will be my martial arts training. I will work on my karate kicks and chops just in case. I will meditate like most ninjas do. This will be essential for survival. If everyone is expecting normal citizens in the apocalypse, that will leave them ill-prepared for ninjas

Make sure to work on your flexibility, too. A lot of people never stretch or do any sort of yoga and it leads to loss of mobility and also injury.

all you really need is that black outfit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and you are a ninja

One of my favorite movies from the 90s was Beverly Hills Ninja with Chris Farley. I think he ended up doing too much cocaine and heroin and was also obese so his body just gave out on him.

Perhaps you ought to study Ninjutsu and not Karate ;) Hollywood and youtube isn't very truthful sorry, Ninja's nothing more than spies and assassins, they are not anymore more formidable than a Samurai in combat. Not a lot of historical accounts of Ninjas and most of what we do know comes from pure fantasies so enjoy becoming a Ninja! Maybe hollywood will hire you ;)

Always reminds me of this:

The whole point of Ninjas are largely obsolete. These days, a sniper can kill from the shadows from a much further distance, and with a much higher chance of success.

Not to say that skills such as stealth, hiding, and more melee type assassination abilities would be useless in a SHTF scenario...indeed, they could be handy...but don't forget why they are no longer really around these days. ;)

Suffice to say, went through a ninja period myself when younger, much younger. Learned some martial arts, etc. but the real interest was in all of the stealthy gadgets. I bought some, made others. Some real neat stuff. Really kind of runs the gambit from magician tricks to spy gear, climbers gear, etc. (and if you really want a real smoke bomb, it's going to involve some pyro. The other ones will not give you enough smoke quickly, to vanish).

If you really want to pull off the vanish trick though, it's MUCH more effective to do it WITHOUT any kind of show. A little bit of misdirection, such as drawing someone's attention elsewhere, for a little time, can give you all the out you need, if you have a planned exit strategy. I disappear like this all the time around my kids, just for fun. (and reappear just as suddenly).

Ninjitsu itself, as a martial art, is more about unconventional warfare and espionage, which is what drew me back then, because I love doing the unexpected, when it comes to tactics (lets face it, it was also big in pop culture too, at the time). Their are traditionally 18 disciplines, but most revolve around a type of weapon...so as a martial art, mostly it is weapons training. The disciplines that are more about tactics, disguise, stealth, water training, horsemanship, etc. aren't likely going to be part of a class you'd take. ;)

The more Ninja specific weapons are always fascinating. Even older and bigger, I'm still a deadly shot with a well made throwing star or well-balanced knife. ;) - yesterday, we were at the local Ren Fest, and my daughter was holding a staff for a friend, and twirling it around some. I asked her if I could try...and she giggled, and said sure. I then went into a Bruce Lee style display (even older and bigger as I am), that had her jaw drop, it was pretty funny.... I like keeping my kids on their toes.

Youtube has a lot of self help ninja videos....

Remember, Don't Ninjer nobody who don't need Ninjering....if you want to become a ninja you will have to erase yourself first....no internet, cut all things on your paper trail....biggest step to hide and erase yourself would be to go join the French Foreign Legion, they will teach you a lot of ninja skills to get you headed in the right direction to become a totally stealth, no trace, ultimate silent unseen killing machine.....You could then rob banks and stuff to support yourself.....or maybe go to hollyweird and take out all the sex freaks, maybe go to Iraq and Afghanistan and kill all the ISIS and Taliban....you could use those ninja skills to really make the world a better place.....

I see your video and raise you this video:

Stephen K. Hayes and Masaaki Hatsumi are interesting.

Read their books, and then find a Bujinkan dojo in your area. They exist, but are hard to find.

Many people consider them to be frauds, but I'm on the fence about this.

Also, research the Tenshin Shoden Katori school, which has existed for about 700 years.

Be prepared to practice up to six hours a day working on flexibility and endurance.

A common problem when doing this kind of workout regimine is overtraining.

Overtraining is subtle, because it sneaks up on you gradually. You lose motivation to train, you lose muscle mass, and you have sleep problems.

So, immerse yourself into this training gradually, and get a foundation by, perhaps, starting with Kendo, Iaido, Aikido, and possibly Bojutsu if you can find the instructors.

Retire your car and rely on your feet and a bicycle to get around. You'll save money and build up endurance at the same time.

Work on the 'grey man' approach to your life, and never discuss martial arts with anyone outside of class. Practice your forms inside, or in a remote area. People (especially young men) like to get ego gratification by showing off martial arts skills...and this must be avoided.

Recognize that there are plenty of martial arts con artists, so do your research before sinking money into a school that has fradulent foundations.

Some ways to recognize a fradulent school:

1) Lots of celebrity photos with prominent martial artists shaking hands with the instructor. Photos are often photoshopped.

2) Lots of asian scrolls and artwork. It's a martial arts studio, not a museum.

3) The school has moved around a lot.

4) A computer search reveals fraud convictions for people affliated with the school.

5) High-pressure sales tactics like those employed by a used car salesmen.

6) Lots of asain language use in situations where it's not called for...usually to create the impression that the instructor has traveled to the distant ends of the earth to hone his skills.

7) Lots of injuries in class.

8) Absence of protective padding, gloves, cushions, helmets, and other protective gear while--at the same time--having lots of weapons.

9) Elaborate, unreasonable paperwork absolving the school of financial responsibility for accidents and/or substandard training.

And so on.

Good luck.

One thing I forgot to add.

Ninja (Shinobi) had a reputation for being sorcerers and having control of supernatural forces.

This was accomplished by mixing stage magic (illusions) with martial arts and psycological warfare.

They walked on water because they had devices similar to paddleboards. They could fly because of a black cable strung between two buildings. They could hypnotize and exercise mind control because of alkaloid drugs secreted into peoples' food (scopolomine and atropine from belladonna can do stuff like this), they used paralytic toxins (like tetrodotoxin from fugu blowfish) to incapacitate people for kidnapping.

Studying the basics of psychology, drama, acting, and stage magic should be a part of your curriculum.

Read Sun Tze's The Art of War, Musashi's Book of Five Rings, The Prince, by Machiavelli, On War by Clausewitz, any basic magic books by David Copperfield, and especially read Grey's Anatomy.

Read these books and study them thoroughly.

Grey's Anatomy will tell you more about vulnerable weak spots in the human body than any martial arts class...so you can defend as well as attack.

And so on.

This is nonsense. I want to be a real ninja, not some phony baloney.
