Yes White Flight is gradually merging with Prepping and both are merging with Homesteading / Off gridding / Smallholding and full blown Survivalism. One only has to look at how "" Progressive, diverse, enriched and liberal cities"" like Baltimore, Sydney, London, Helsinki, Oslo, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Detroit, Paris, Milan etc are going. The educated, enlightened and academics can see the writing on the wall and realising its time to get out of Dodge.

It appears even the educated middle classes who mocked and vilified preppers and survivalists are now sitting up and smelling the coffee. And Equally the Urban prepper situation is looking to become ever more dire.

Just remember the UKs Guardian newspaper is the CNN of the UK its 100% left leaning socialist, multi culti, diversity etc so if its reporting on this issue then even Londons Champagne socialists are realising the mess they created is coming home to roost.

I personally no longer campaign or try to persuade anyone to take prepping seriously as I think those who would listen have already made their minds up to become preppers, those who are left will never listen.

If you read the article, it's hysterical. The 'prepper' is worried that a climate-change SHTF event will happen. That's why the Guardian wrote this article: to explain the potential consequence of climate change baloney. He built a $2million house that is 'environmentally friendly' (rainwater collection, solar/batteries, aerated septic. Sure, everybody can afford that, right? And some more humor: he's been trying to sell his green-friendly house and nobody wants to buy it! What a surprise.

I think there may be some truth to this, but I find that as a whole many richer people are complacent in their wealth and nice jobs and homes and think that nothing will happen. They laugh if you suggest that society could collapse and they would have nothing, and then they call you a paranoid conspiracy theorist and probably start getting ready to call the FBI because they think you're planning something.
However, the guy in the article seems crazy all in his own way, though he definitely has some good ideas too. I agree with him that a self-sufficient post-SFTF location would be better away from large numbers of people who might want to take advantage of what it contains.

It seems funny to me that another global warming nut job wants to move to a coastal area. I thought the "experts" all agree that ocean levels are going to rise. Maybe they really don't believe in their own bologna after all.

Oh, but these guys are really 'smart'. They can tell you exactly how much the ocean will rise, let's say 23 ft. They buy land with that elevation, and in 10 years they have ocean-front property!

buying a property on the coast? isn't that where all the other people want to live too? and isn't that nearly as bad as living on a flood plain? for some so called prepper I don't think he's done his homework correctly.

Even if one doesn't agree with the whole global warming lark, he did try to show how a person living in the city could provide all their needs and not have to rely on government systems. He built his home to show what could be done and basically no one cares, not even his own children. He realises if things go tits up living in the city probably wasn't the best idea, (although I agree that if he believes in global warming then the coast isn't a good option) but as he says, he is in Australia and as they have nearly zero water he is heading that way where the forests are so he can have access to rainwater.

I do think he has some things right or at least some good ideas, even if he is a bit on the crazy side.
