Don't let your wife hear you say that or you'll be buying a bigger diamond.

She already had to go check her new Instant Pot to make sure it wasn't the model. :D

It wasn't. She has only had it a week or so.

I read something about Walmart about ten years ago about how they can carry name brand products and keep the price low. The report stated that manufacturers actually had two criteria for the build of their products, one is for all the stores that sell their products, the other was for Walmart. Items made for Walmart were not made with the same quality as their other name brands. Evidently you'll see the same product in two different places but they'll have different model numbers even though they look identical.

Yep, these are called derivatives. If you get something on Black Friday, it's most likely a derivative and if you buy it on a special sale at a big box store it is also most likely a derivative. The same basic specification produced for half the cost and half the quality.

This same criteria is used by big brands for the items they make to be sold on Black Friday and other discount sale days.

Years back (before Roo) we bought a new tv on Black Friday. Our old tv blew a tube (yes, it was THAT old) and it was time to replace it. So we got a killer deal on a plasma tv. It was 6 months old when the screen went on it. The Samsung repairman that came to look at it (still under the 1 year manufacturer's warranty) told us that tvs sold as door busters are very cheap and only made to last a year or 2. He replaced the screen in ours and made sure it was a quality replacement since Samsung was covering the repairs. No issues since! We had a similar issue with blue-ray players made by Samsung and photo printers made by Canon.

Sometimes spending a bit extra is worth it to get a quality item that will not break down as fast.

The problem is not with instant pot pressure cookers.
Just the one model of slow cooker.
How can you tell that since it says "multi cooker?" BTW, I had no idea there were two different Instant Pots. I didn't even know there was such a thing until you all started talking about them.

Look at the pictures.
There is no pressure settings.
Also the lid does not lock on it just sits on top.
Instant pot makes several models of cookers.
Not all are pressure cookers.
