I have noticed recently that in some interviews with notable people within the investment community there are a few that admit ( these comments are usually said and quickly passed) that their personal investment strategies for the near term is the acquisition of THINGS in volume that can be bartered . One said he has physical silver and gold but after a collapse the acceptance of precious metals in trade usually runs three to seven years out .
We here have discussed such strategies but this was the first time I have seen it mentioned outside our community so to speak, seems more are gettin nervous nowdays.

I spoke with a cousin that I haven't seen in a few years just this past week. He said he has regular contacts in his job with financial experts who say 2024 is the year that things will go south (putting it nicely). I told him that I was surprised things haven't gone to crap already, but that I agreed that 2024 will likely be very dicey. I think most Americans are expecting something bad just around the corner. It's not just 'conspiracy theorists' or preppers anymore.....it's the average Joe. It seems everyone is waiting for the other shoe to drop.

We've been spending cash this past year and plan to spend even more before the year is out. We have a major purchase in the works, but are waiting on the seller to get his ducks in a row. Hopefully we can speed it along.

I agree that PM's are a good investment for a longer term future. Investments for a shorter term is anything you think you could use within the next few years. Or, anything you think someone else is going to need in the near future.
