I recently bought several of the knorr dehydrated pouches from Walmart. I wanted to add to my emergency stock some stuff that just needs water to eat. They were 1 to 2 dollars per pouch and I got a good variety of them. They aren't as long lasting as the mountain house stuff as they average two years best by date, but are much cheaper. Anyways, I tried one just now, the chicken flavored fettuccini, and it really wasn't bad. I don't think it would win awards or anything, but it was decent and filled my belly with a quick and warm meal. The point here is it is a great economical way to start a reserve food supply for anyone on a tight budget. They are small, lightweight, easy to prepare and surprisingly palatable.

I like to stock up on the Jap noodles in the pouch. Not sure of the brand but you just add boiling water, let's stand for a few minutes and eat. They're cheap and taste pretty good too. It could be the same brand that your talking about Brent. I also like to stock up on the noodles that come in a cup too. For a little extra variety I like to shred some jerky in with the noodles.

i just ate the knorr red beans and rice side.with a boneless chicken breast with it..i always pay $1 for what i get, when it comes to the rice and pasta alike..they do taste good when something different to eat is needed..
I bet a chicken breast or something like a smoked sausage would be really good with most of these.

Toss in a handful of dehydrated chicken into the pot while boiling. By the time its done your chicken is too. Still eating on those Knorr sides I got last year for 25 cents apiece. When we went hiking up in CO as a kid, our lunch was Ramen noodles with tuna added in.
