Thanks to all my veteran brothers-in-arms and don't let the estimated 80,000 homeless vets be forgotten! Hate the US politicians for neglecting our Vets, 1800 ex- soldiers are buried daily in the US. They do not have enough active soldiers to play TAPS on a trumpet, so they have imported electronic trumpets (China) and the soldiers just hold it to their lips and act like...God speed and stay alive all in US uniforms around the world, right or not, their are our front line. Anybody in the UK recognise this hat? I support the wounded there...

yeah, got the same motto on a sticker on the car.
watched Remembrance Day parade on the TV this morning.
Grandad was in the trenches in WW2 "Devon and Dorset's " (mentioned in dispatches twice), Dad was in Royal Artillery in WW2, wife's parents were both serving in WW2.

My grandfather was in the Navy and was on a ship in Pearl Harbor when the Japs attacked. By the time the war ended he'd been on 2 ships that were torpedoed and sunk, he spent some time in the water. My dad was in the Marines during the later part of WW2 (lied about his age to join) and in Korea.
My dad and granddad were like most old timers and never talked about their service, unlike today.

Still fighting over the same **** around the world. Old mens ideas. Rich mens money. Poor mens lives.

They saw things we don't wanna hear about. Can't talk to my kids either, afraid they would have the same nightmares as me later...Kept both my kids out of Uniforms. Glad I did now. All three of my brothers didn't and they regret it now. Nobody wins a war, after a while, they stop shooting but that does not mean the war IS OVER. It goes on forever in your head. Live free, GP

Yeah, as advanced as mankind is you would think we would have learned to stop killing our young men. Instead we have just gotten better at it. All that is out of my hands though, and I do respect the young men and women that are willing to serve. Still think it would be better to let the old men in power personally fight it out though.

High wishes, but I don't think Trump-boy would have much of a chance against Putin-macho. It'll never change.
Had a poster in the Army on the wall one time:

WE THE UNWILLING; LED BY THE UNKNOWING; ARE DOING THE IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE UNTHANKFUL.
WE HAVE NOW DONE SO MUCH; WITH SO LITTLE SUPPORT; WE ARE NOW QUALIFIED TO DO ANYTHING WITH NOTHING!

Been there, done that. GP

Breaks my heart to say, I think Silent Earth just asked Rellgar to close his account. Don't know why and probably don't have the right to ask why, haven't been here long enough. Just know that all the old timers here have lost a big and good contact and friend. See you later, SIR, GARY
