When prepping it is easy to overlook something that may take for granted now and haven't considered in our planning. What if there was no reference material tomorrow. Say you and your family are in a survival situation and most of the survival techniques were in your head and your family was still learning. You get attacked and killed but manage to keep you're family safe for the moment. Would they be able to fill your shoes? Stockpile manuals, books, information on things you know and things you would like to know. I am planning to bug in but for those who are bugging out you could do the same on a memory stick although you risk losing everything or not being able to access it

I agree 100% I am all for storing an e-reader loaded to gills with everything and anything a person could need during a lifetime, along with hard copies printed out of things EVERY person would need in a lifetime like maps and information on local plants and animals, kept locked in a faraday cage what's the worst that could happen?

The answer is, that the worst case scenario is that you bought something you never needed, like a weapon though, better to have one and not need it, than need one and not have it.

Neglected preps could come up anytime as an emergency but on the other hand we can't do anything either. Completing each one is not within our reach so just let things be.
Bed bug extermination nyc

Am I the only one confused by the bed bug link?

I see no harm in collecting my books on my kindle, light weight and easy to read, but I will be prepared and have extra hardback copies of the essential books if I can!

great idea.librays have sales time to time.get um cheaper that way..stock up on them..pluse haveing other ways of info might pay off. like a kindle - nook - ipod or what ever.keep it in a faraday cage..get it out to update it when needed an just use it some..then put it back

I would probably avoid the e-readers but I like to keep a simple US Army Survival manual in my bugout bag and the rest of your documents can be for toilet reading provided your guests dont use the same bathroom as you. (I'm all about not sharing the fact that I'm a prepper)

I have forgotten so much stuff that I learned growing up. When you walk away from your country heritage and move to the city for whatever reason, it's like a tire with a slow leak. It escapes you. I am also glad to report though, through mental stimulation you can retrieve some of it. Like getting caught out of town and your headlights go out. Have you ever tried just cruising into town on the shoulder of the road with just your flashers going? It works. You can see as long as you don't go too fast.

You always need to keep some old folks handy, you might have to kick them in the butt to get their memory going but you will never live a moment that they haven't already.
