I have some that are Styrofoam, I did not expect them to hold up very well, but to my surprise they have. I am interested in ordering some more mannequins, and wanting to learn about different products they are made from. Mostly interested in heads (adult male). But can work with female mannequin heads with modifications. Or if you know where I can get some in depth information on this subject.

How creative are you? You could use chicken wire and aluminum to form a head and neck. Paint it of course.
You could have your friends look in dumpsters for mannequins where mall stores are closing.
Prototypes are made of clay, then used for the primary mould, for the higher end mannequins (Macy's).
I just did a quick internet search and you can buy the head and shoulders in quite a few places and even the whole mannequin. But you may need them to withstand extreme weather conditions, right?
Most "higher end" are made of fiberglass but don't hold up as well as the plastic ones.

The bodies are plywood with coats. I just need the heads. The ones with eyes are great, or even just put small blue or yellow reflectors where the eyes go. Stand them about 4 or 6 feet off the trail, driveway, road, or even up in a tree. They also keep me sharp (often scare the crap out of me) when patrolling the property.

My DIL went to beauty school. They have some pretty realistic heads. The one she left in the garage got me many times. Maybe look for beauty heads or something on Craigslist.

Hobby Lobby has styrofoam... use 40% off and they are cheap. I have bought some for our museum.

My goal is to learn about the different materials they are offered in......and the relative advantages of each material. Finding a place to purchase them is the easy part. acquiring a depth of knowledge about mannequins seems more difficult.
