Mapping the water system around your B.I/O.L and or along your 'get out of dodge' routs and keeping track of the EPA's, state, and local water authority reports and water quality for your area(s) and traveled paths. It would be wise to have on hand/access to these reports and maps before post-shtf, many states make available these reports, take advantage of it now.

water routes was something I didn't consider as escape ways before it popped up here,always had them in my mind 'cause I need to drink but in shtf it can be a highway to safety also

1 creek 1 pond and 1 lake are a part of a route that im working on..but i definitely need to work on that route big time...

I have one plan that I'm still working on developing. However, I'm still trying to figure out the best route. Long story short, I figure that the closer I can get to lake erie, the more food and water I will have access to. So long as I can make a fire, I can boil any contaminants that might be in the water. Seagulls are going to be near the water, so a slingshot will allow me to hunt, and I found a miniature fishing pole that would be perfect for such an ordeal, so I could always go fishing for food if I couldn't hit a gull.

Actually, I would be a bit closer to a small community called Luna Pier. However, I'd be a few miles away, and armed to the teeth.

Also, before **** does hit the fan, I intend on going down to Luna Pier, and getting a feel for the community. Depending on what I can pick up from the locals, I might go further than a few miles away. I just know that I need to stay remotely close to the lakes, and that Lake Erie is the closest lake to me that is out of city limits.

In a bug in situation, I have mapped out all of the local ponds with GPS coordinates and topo maps within about a 25 mile radius. However, I know that those will also become havens for others looking for water, or to ambush unsuspecting people. The real problem would be in a bug out situation. I do not have a BOL, so in that scenario I am woefully unprepared. Living in NE Ohio, I don't have a great grasp on even where to bug out to. I have a lot of work to do in that respect.

but guys,aslong as you understand your situation that you have a thing to do,it's ok!
for my self, this is a very steep learning curve,trying to dig information from an old brain of mine what I learn't when I did my service,what my dad thaught me when camping or gathering mushrooms for food...what to do in different scenarios,where to go and so on...
aslong as we prep we have a chance,though for me it seems that the situation in Europe is getting worse by the day thanks to my neighbour mad-Vlad and falling economy...

I can't agree more, also in some states they offer a 3D overlay map that allows you to track certain levels of heavy metals impacting ground water. Each year, our community publishes the annual water report. I pay particular attention to pesticides, heavy metals, iron, etc.

Rural areas are a bit more of a challenge, but as Maverick stated...EPA, state and local water do publish them, local possibly less so. Great post Maverick!

This should be pretty easy for me, there really isn't any water around here There might be some in the creek in a good year, but that's about it.

OH, I just remembered, a neighbor has a bore with a hand pump, that's worth remembering.

Lots of water sorces here but in the rare bad drought they start to dry up and even the well water can start to taset a little foul and need boiled . Pre SHTF we have city water lines that run out here in the boon docks . My well is not in use but its simple enough to draw water from if needed , there is 2 creeks that run most of the year near my yard , 1 large creek that runs year around about a mile away a marsh or small swamp about 1000 yards away that has a underground spring that feede is . Surounded by family and friends I would hope we never had to turn on our own for a water sorce .
