Short story:$15,000 for 4 tiny medical screws.
A lady went into the hospital, 3 days later got a bill for $115k. Insurance didn't want to cover it, so after fighting she got an itemized bill. They refused to tell her the make/model of those screws, but comparable ones would have cost $300-1000. So a 1500% to 5000% mark-up. Yikes.
So the bottom line is that you will get more honest billing going to Mexico than you'll get from American hospitals.
