I haven't heard of the term desiccant before. Do people always use desiccant packs with oxygen absorbers? I thought you could just use oxygen absorbers.

I'm assuming you would use 5 gallon mylar bags since they're going in 5 gallon buckets right?

Niick,

You can purchase Ox absorbers from many prep companies. Typically, desiccant packs are not always allowed to be placed with food, my recommendation is for your to get the Ox absorbers. (Note: Never place them with sugar, since it will cause the sugar to go rock hard). Yes, you will use them with 5 gallon mylar bags and 5 gallon buckets (BPA Free, make sure that you use those only with food items). I also use a gamma seal for the top, it gives it and additional sealing factor.

I do use desiccant packs with my communication equipment, batteries, non-edibile supplies to limit possible moisture rot in my caches drums.

Hope this helps.
