NE Washington - how safe?.. ß

Up around Spokane would be primary targeting because of the SAC bases (now called AFGSC bases) due to Fairchild Air Base 10,000 foot runway and past SAC operations from the base even though today it deals mainly with air refueling. How far are you from Fairchild? The West side has 6 targets all around the Puget Sound area plus 4 secondary targets, 3 targets in Eastern Washington with 2 secondary targets.
I kind of figure that Russia and us have enough bombs to destroy the planet and don't think anywhere is really safe now.

you can survive a nuclear war,by prepping.food and water for up to 1 year,a way to measure outside radiation and a under ground bunker,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,not a pretty picture is it
Yeah I don't see a nuclear war happening as it would be a lose/lose for everyone involved. We have military bases, attack submarines and warships located all around the globe. If we were attacked we would still be able to retaliate even if our entire country were wiped out.
We also have powerful allies with similar capabilities. If a nuclear war was going to happen...it would have happened 40-50 years ago. Now countries have too many overlapping interests and the stakes are far too high.
Im into preparedness more for short term crises...not highly unlikely forever life changing ones. I don't think anyone can really prepare for those anyway.
In recent history we have survived two world wars, several economic meltdowns including the Great Depression, lost a president, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan, Osama Bin Laden, ISIS, LA riots, Katrina, 911....and we're still standing strong.
Conflict is a natural part of life and will occasionally arise. We will continue to overcome like we always do.

Situational awareness is a part of who I am. I'm not worried Maverick.
Oh I'm not worried at all, a lot of preppers prep for nuclear war specifically though I believe that's the wrong approach by making prep supplies for specific events. My preps aren't for anything specific, all things are treated equal regarding events, I just stay aware of wildland forest fires, earthquakes/volcanoes (wife specialty) and nuclear targets etc... especially for my general area given the type of military bases here.
Thanks for your input. I have never been into specialty prepping, but try to make things multi purpose. I would never consider digging a bomb shelters for the sake of having one, but, since I want to have a root cellar anyway, I wouldn't mind digging a deeper hole for it. I have lived in Asia for 16 years. Before I left the U.S. 18 years ago, I would have agreed with you about the interdependence idea being a stabilizer, but after meeting people from all over the world, I'm not sure I would still agree with that. Still, I think the most likely problem we will face is from rogue nation's/terrorists of just economic upheaval.
