Hey all, my name is Landon, i am new to the forum but a long time survivalist. Since the age of 11 I have been studying and practicing survival techniques.
Im located in Northern Utah studying mechanical and aerospace engineering.
I am an eagle scout, concealed carry permit holder, avid shooter, archer, camper, hiker, paintballer, and fisher.
I am currently looking to get to know some people to start or join a group. And when i say group i mean in the same word "family".

Welcome to the forum Landon. Sounds like you got a good head on your shoulders for being such a young man. I hope you can find what you are looking for, and if I understand correctly, you are looking for a tight net group that you consider family? I highly admire the fact you are an Eagle Scout. That takes a long while to get there and shows your dedication and hard work. My dad was an Eagle Scout too :).

Thank you! I appreciate the reply. I have been working hard to "Be prepared" as the scouts say. You are accurate in implying that i am looking for a tight nit group.

Welcome. Guess we all have different styles of prepping. For me, last thing I want is other folks involved prior to the event. Just the word group makes me nervous. No doubt, I'm antisocial but that being said, it can sure open a can of worms for anyone. Prepare to be disappointed.

I understand your vision and have thought about going lone wolf as well. But if any sizeable force were to try to take my position I’d be in trouble.

Don't get me wrong. I don't believe anyone can easily survive a long term crisis alone. If you note, I stated I wouldn't form a group PRIOR to the event. I prep for my rural neighbors without them knowing I'm doing so. Once the shock has worn off and reality sets in, my plan is to form a small community of folks remaining on our rural lane. Several are farmers & cattlemen. That is why my long term stores are measured by the ton.

IMO, best way to stay safe/secure is by using stealth. That is greatly accomplished by your location but also by no one knowing what you have or what you plan. Letting anyone know of your location, stores or your plans can lead to the trouble you are trying to avoid. All it takes is one disgruntled ex member or a member talking to others. So I plan for others & keep my mouth shut. Not saying my way is the proper way... just saying how I will approach a crisis.

Very true. That’s a great option and it’s something I have played with in my head. As a college student I don’t have the ranch I wish I had or the locations to stock supplies. At the moment I am confined to relying on others preCrunch. Hopefully I will have time to have land and supplies sufficient to be lone wolf with my wife.
