You can call me Jim, or Wolffe. I'm interested in prepping, even some homesteading eventually, but am currently looking for information on "Prepping 101" and "Prepping on a Budget".

I understand that there are a lot of scenarios to prepare for, and that there is nearly always more that can be done. For now, I am most interested in doing the things that are most useful and will cover the widest number of scenarios.

I'm looking forward to getting to know how you all do things and learning from you all.

Welcome from Fin,

doing preps on a smaller budget too,but as many here have and will say; learn skills, those you will carry with you easily..
my favourite is first aid, then comes security stuff / food / defence.

go ahead and browse through these threads here prepping 101 and others should give good pointers and ask, no question is silly,
only those you don't ask, this is learning game and we all have started from something.

@Rellgar,
Some conversations seem to get pretty heated in this forum, just looking through a few so far. As a Mod, maybe you can be straight with me.

How much favoritism can I expect to see while reading and participating in discussions here? I'd just like to know ahead of time, before I get too invested. I've had problems in the past where discussions were only allowed as long as you agreed with the cool kids.

The fact that you can read them, shows that those discussions are allowed. I dont know which ones you speak of. The only discussions I can think of would have to do with politics and religion, if you cant deal with ridicule or a difference of opinion on those subjects, I would not participate in them. If you stay with thread discussions on prepping and survival topics, you should not have any conflict. Some come here for the conflict, then they complain about it and start insulting and personal attacks. Those people are then banned if they refuse to change course.

As far as I can see all opinions are welcome so when there are discussions on controversial topics there are some "heated" discussion for sure; that's only natural. But people generally refrain from resorting to ad hominem attacks, which I appreciate because not only are they illogical, but they do nothing to advance your position and, in fact, cause people to wonder whether anything you said is worth their consideration. Or you can just stick to forums on actual prepping. They are often just as interesting and less polarizing.

Nup heated confrontational debate is pretty much welcome and the norm on here, its on;ly trolls who get hammered PDQ, We all know long term preppers are very strong willed and opinionated and we respect that. The only stupid question is the unasked one. But we do like folks to use the SEARCH function a bit before asking questions.

howdy from a Texan .... and welcome to the forum and family...there's quite a few knowledgeable folks here that'll gladly tell ya what you need to know,or at least point ya in the right direction and/or give ya a good idea or 2..and by all means jump right on in with any replies you have on a topic

JWolffe, Freedom of Speech is alive and well on this forum. Say what you believe, but be prepared to defend it!

This is a very eclectic bunch of folks, and there is no "orthodoxy" that has to be followed other than respecting other people's opinions when they are genuine. It helps to have a thick skin because members do say things quite often that go against other members beliefs, both political and religious.

good morning from Germany, JWolffe. I have been in a few other forums up to date. Some were too self-proclaimed, some unreal. I like what I have seen here so-far. You will get your truths for yourself, everyone has their own "truths". Ask a lot and you will probably get a lot, if you just read, you will even get better. The people here will be patient with you, they are with me also so-far. Be patient with yourself also, it just takes time for the beginners. Live free, GP

Mornin' from Poland!
Maybe you not need to cover lots of scenarios but focus on your needs? Need to breathe, eat, drink, care of health, hygiene, self defence and so on. If you cover this, any scenario happend, you will be preppared.
