Welcome!

Any advice pretty much depends on your situation. Most of us (unlike the show) prep more for self-sustainability vs. any particular threat or SHTF scenario. Whether economic collapse, war, natural disasters, or the zombies (lol), most advice is the same. Look into methods for renewable water and food.

Renewable water = Well (with a manual or solar powered pump), Rain barrels, proximity to a natural source (river, etc.) and ways to ensure it is purified.

Renewable food = garden, livestock (chicken, cows, rabbits, etc.)

Stockpiling is great too, but eventually, you will run out...so having renewable sources of these two things is the real key to survival.

Welcome to the site Shawna. Please browse around the forums and threads and ask as many questions as you need to. Gazrok has given you some good advice with the sustainability if its possible for you to do those things, if not it's ok to stockpile as well so you can survive until you get to a BOL (bug out location) too. Always start with water or ways to purify water, then food, then security and defense, and so on. It also depends on your location wether to put security and defense at the front with water or not. Any questions ask away

Like all the others here, I wish you a warm welcome. There are people here that specialize in all sorts of areas, just ask and everyone is really good at helping out. I focus mostly on food production and storage, and am far from an expert but always happy to share my triumphs and failures.
