NYT positive article on preppers

Nice article but very poor OPSEC from the interviewed "Preppers". Now all the preppers neighbors and the neighbors friend and family know who has the stored food.
If they were willing to be interviewed, I am betting they have not done much to conceal their identities.
They advertise for people from the particular subject they want to interview, 15 minutes of fame often overwhelms common sense.

Makes me think of how the Drill Sergeants got us young and stupid but motivated soldiers...One of them would come into the room and yell "hey you with the short haircut and the green shirt!!!" We stupid, turn around and say: "yes Drill Sergeant!!" Anyone who turned around, was a volunteer...some just can't avoid being famous...GP
Pretty much all of my neighbors are preppers to some degree anyhow. Those that aren't, are pretty well aware that we all have large dogs and guns, so it likely wouldn't be much of an issue here if they knew.... Still, no need to advertise. It's why my garden area isn't visible from anywhere off the property. You have to pretty much be on property, and then at certain angles, to even see it.
There's a great line in this article... "Many people think preppers prepare for the government coming for them....(instead) preppers prepare for the government NOT coming for them." I really like this. (not really a direct quote, but my paraphrasing).
Today, seems everyone is now a prepper. Most started within the past week, with Toilet Paper. 
Exactly. I try to explain even to certain family members that FEMA might not be there for you after a hurricane, and they don't seem to get it.

If you don't have at least one entire room full of TP I can guarantee you it's not enough. Probably 2 rooms just to be safe.
