As the possibility of more oil wars comes around again here is just a brief reminder of what we use oil for, and to why we must stay prepped and alert.

yep, too many eggs in one basket.
we nearly had petrol rationing in the 1970s in the UK because of a suspected shortage or short fall in oil production in the middle east, we actually went as far as having ration coupons issued but it never actually happened, but there were less people and less vehicles on the road then than now.

OMG! What are we gonna do if they can't make any more GOLF BALLS?!?!?!
The rest will hurt but, NO golf balls any more? The rich boys will have to come up with another new game to play, but without THEIR BALLS!!! lol.
BTW: the word GOLF came from the origins of the game, in Scotland. When the men were asked what they were playing, the answer was
Gentelmen
Only
Ladies
Forbidden: GOLF

Iraq and Iran will rattle their swords and most likely do nothing,,,,as for oil from those 2 country's if they don't sell it they starve and I can find no numbers on importing oil from them to the USA,,,,I don't see this as much more than an excuse by the oil company's to raise prices

I thought most of the imported oil came from Saudi not Iran.
Iran may not sell nearly as much oil as the Saudis, but they have the third largest proven petroleum reserves in the world (210 billion barrels) after Venezuela (300 billion) and Saudi Arabia (298 billion).

Incidentally, The United States has now surpassed the Saudis in oil exports.

It would be a much shorter list to name what doesn't use oil in the manufacture, production, transportation or distribution of products. I like the old saying "If it cant be grown, it has to be mined". Of course oil is used in growing of all of our food products too.

I usually shy away from petroleum based products. It's not really anything ideological or philosophical, it's just that I prefer the look and feel of natural materials. My hairbrush is wood with boar bristles. My guns have wood stocks. I wear 100% cotton, or wool or linen clothing. That kind of thing.

I can say that I have lots of cotton and wool clothing, but the other things which are from Oil, are to 90 % second hand. Mentioned that a few months back, never spend $200 on a jacket when someone else will, then give it away to a second hand shop or sell it on e-bay for 15-20 bucks. Since I go barefoot so much, my boots and shoes will last about 10 years each. The oils and gas/diesel are a complicated thing to do without if you drive anything with a combustion motor tho.
