I don't remember when the first issuance of the "FOREVER" Stamps was, must have been a while ago. I remember thinking this is going to be a good deal for me. I had a business credit card, so I bought a lot, knowing I was going to close the business in a year. So now I am down to my last 55 Forever stamps and thinking I should order some more. Good thing I was sitting down. "WOWZER".

:LOL:That's why they started putting "FOREVER" on them instead of the price in cents, it was embarrassing, and they could bump the price up and nobody would notice:thumbs:.
Worked, didn't it?:D

Looks like I guessed right on how many years ago. But was thinking they were around 38 cents each. I think when I was young stamps were 2 or 3 cents each, postcards were for sure half a penny each. 2 for a penny. Stamps were considered currency, as they were printer by the U.S. Treasury Dept.

You would think they would ACTUALLY DELIVER the mail EVERYDAY at that price..... But NOOOOOOO!
Hee, he!
How do I know it's going to rain today?
Answer: It's the only day the postman leaves the door open on the mailbox!
Every. Single. Time. He never fails!

I remember sticking a nickel on an envelope and the mail lady would put the stamp on.
Penny postcards were common and the mail man or lady would always read them.
I know several people on here have mailed letters with free written where the stamp went.
My wife still has a few letters with free postage.
My Mom actually received a letter from a grandkid that was addressed to Grandma @@@@ in the town she lived in.

My mom grew up in Staten Island, NY. She told me that at Christmastime the mail carriers (who walked) would come by 2-3 times a day! If a lot of cards came in they would go back and deliver them! I remember her putting her mail in the box with change and the carrier would put the stamps on her letters! Things have sure changed!

I’m lucky. I have a mailman that puts our packages in the building vestibule. He knows the combo to the lockbox on the buidling. He‘s been my mailman for about 15 years. When we go upstate he holds our mail and even let’s us know when something is going on
