Pandemic Flu Protection Kits

I came across these and said "Why the hell not"
I got sick more times this year than I can remember. I don't see the future of my immune system doing any better so I bought them.
The flu seems to take more and more people down every year.
I have thousands of these. Straight of the DOD supply from a government auction.
If anyone is interested, let me know.

My eventual plan is to get: (I say eventual, because overall added up, kind of expensive, so have to piecemeal it)

10 ChemSplash Protective Suits ($28 each) = 280
10 Nuke Boots ($11 each) = 110
10 Safety Goggles ($5 each) = 55
N95 Respirator Masks (5 boxes of 20 each, at $15 a box) = 75
10 Reusable 3M Respirators ($25 each) = 250
Disposable Gloves (5 boxes of 150 each, at $9 each) = 45
10 Rubber Gloves ($5 each) = 50
Lots and lots of plastic sheeting and duct tape.

And of course all the standard hygiene stuff which is just part of normal preps, along with medical gear, etc. The above is strictly more for the pandemic prepping. While there are 5 of us in the household, come SHTF, will be up to a dozen of us, but I can't see all of us ever needing all of this at one time, so 10 complete getups and additional disposable options should suffice.

I really haven't done much for a pandemic. It is a real risk though and probably should be given attention. I do have lots of disposable gloves and masks, but that's about it. I guess one thing I do have going for me is living fairly remote. after living near orlando fla., I might as well say I'm in the middle of nowhere. I think isolation is probably the best tactic/strategy for any serious disease out there.

FYI make sure the respirators/mask are NIOSH certified N95 and watch out for the counterfeit NIOSH N95's the counterfeits are rampant on the internet

We're somewhat remote.

Post SHTF, I have a stall in the unused stable, that we'd pretty much convert into a medical bay (mostly, because it's away from the house, so we could easily quarantine someone). Eventually (before SHTF), I plan to put in some nice flooring there, seal it up, with ventilation, etc., and a surplus hospital bed, cabinets, sink, minifridge (propane, like a trailer minifridge), etc. But, this is kind of far down on the list.

The wife thinks this idea is a bit much, but pre SHTF, I figured it might be good to have if anybody is laid up for a time, and needs bed rest, etc. Neither of us are getting any younger. But, our own bed is really two Craftmatics, put together to form a king bed. So, kind of already has the hospital bed functionality. So, it is way down on the list. But...if I find a good deal on a hospital bed.....

I love your list. However, I have a few questions for you Gazrok... What is the difference between the Disposable Gloves and the Rubber Gloves? I guess the rubber gloves are much thicker. What about the Reusable 3M Respirators? What is your thinking of how you are going to use it as opposed to using the N95 Masks.

In the 3M brands we have various styles of the N95 such as the 9211, 8210, 8511, 8214, all are not equal in fact the AMA is finding that in real world studies they found no difference in protection between the N95 and that of the standard surgical mask in many cases 'the N95 offers scant protection' though were they did find the difference were in fit kit respirators. The N95 only protects down to .3 microns, ebola is .08 microns, SARS is 0.10 microns, hanta virus .08 microns, Influenza A, B, and C are .08 microns. While the 3M N95 is better then nothing just don't get complacent in using them Also keep an eye out for the copycat 3M N95s, example: https://thecounterfeitreport.com/product/446/3M-8210-Particulate-Respirators.html Also keep in mind humidity breaks the mask down quicker. If one is going to purchase the N95 make sure it is the 3M brand, while 3M N95 mask is still made in the states it is now importing the fibers in it's production just an FYI.

I think I will buy the P100 since it will keep out 99.97% of airborne particles and is oil resistant. The N100 is not oil resistant. I don't want any nasty microbes sneaking in. I agree with Maverick about buying quality.. no knock off brands for me. If I'm going to prep... I'm going to do it right!

Unless someone has a good reason to stick with the N95 mask.

Yep, thicker, and would be worn when more hands on, around an infected patient. The disposables are more for low risk situations.

What about the Reusable 3M Respirators? What is your thinking of how you are going to use it as opposed to using the N95 Masks.

Same idea as above, high risk vs. low risk situations, and the ability to provide for others as well, at least some nominal protection, that we may come in contact with.

On another note, I kind of got the green light on converting the stall to at least an emergency bedroom. Lately, seems like we've had situations where a family member or friend may risk having to crash at our place, and currently, apart from inflatable mattresses, we really don't have anything like a guest room. While it wouldn't be a great guest room, at least it would be a bed and all. So, wouldn't be too much after to convert to a sick room. Of course, some other projects ahead of this one though.
