I dont like it, almost identical economic problems as per 2008 insolvent banks (Germany, France , Greece, Spain and Italy) economies weak or in recession or stagnating (Germany's biggest bank is in deep trouble and its also facing $14 billion of fines from US regulators), rising youth unemployment, Civil unrest, Anti establishment protest growing ( AfD, UKIP, Front Nationale, Trump etc) now with the added issue of millions of African and Middle Eastern migrants pouring into Europe ( Sweden once well funded pension and welfare system is now empty) with TENS of millions more waiting to come according to the Hungarian government ( the only govt being open about events). In the US they watch south as dying Venezuela damages and destabilises its neighbours which is starting to cause a mass migration towards the Rio Grande. But unlike 2008 no words of support or reassurance and advice from European and American governments, No quantative easing, no banking bail outs, NOTHING< NADA< ZIP< ZERO coming from the WTO, EU, ECB, FED, B of E etc

The silence is deafening, but what we do hear is that the rich, famous, powerful, political elites etc are according to assorted global media outlets are building Iceberg homes, gated communities, rural retreats, urban redoubts, private islands, estates in empty parts of the US, Canada, Bavaria, Switzerland, Australia and New Zealand. I preferred it in 2008 when we knew what the *******s were up to, now they appears to be squirreling stuff away as quick as they can.

If I were a Merkin I would now be looking at stocking up on food, medical supplies, domestic consumables, ammo and fav gun spares, but most of all I would be looking for way to SERIOUSLY extend the storage life of gasoline, not just by months but by at least two years.

i'm not to concerned about fuel, once SHTF I've always wondered where I would be going? I mean all the shops and supermarkets will be empty, most of them will be trashed and burnt by the unprepared majority. no i'll be keeping close to home once the balloon goes up.

I agree, the govts around the world are tapped out financially. There won't be a financial bailout that just kicked the can down the road this time. I too plan to just stay low and hope we can ride it out until there is some sense of security again. I just have a feeling that in the first year there will be an awful lot of desperate people willing to do anything to eat. I also do have a bug out bag at the ready just in case, but don't think I will use it easily.

i don't think it will take long for the population to be reduced, remember a human can only live about 30 days without food, 3-5 days without water, it dosent matter how you ration food there is only so much to go around at any one time, especially if all the imports stop - which they will. I figure give it 6 months and the population will be halved.

its not fear my friend, its common knowledge for those who have studied this subject at length.

My post was in reference to the new preppers just getting started or wannabe survivalist, I keep seeing these folks change their plans according to what they hear and see from friends the news or youtube etc... I've seen folks planning for water storage and food preps but changed their minds instead started out purchasing firearms and ammo strictly out of fear thus a major no no in the world of survival negating the common sense approach of water, food first before all others.

I quite agree, start with the basics first, food and water come before anything else.
