Technically the car is theirs. The only problem I have is when I pay it off and it's mine, I don't want that crap in my car to be usable against me.
 
Nothing some well-placed aluminum foil couldn't take care of, more likely than not.... :D
No signal = no shut-down.

If they were really smart, they'd make it to where it had to receive the signal periodically to keep working. (of course, then, the solution is to simply come up with a way to dupe the signal, or rig the device inoperative, etc.)

Yep, removal of the device upon full payment should be worked into the contract (and at dealer cost).
