Tiger and Mister, the house cats. Tiger (on left) is the kitten I found right before last year's ice storm. He fit in the palm of my hand. Mister came to us from an elderly couple who had to move to a nursing home!

Outside kitties, Baby Cakes and Smitty (bottom)! Baby Cakes was found as a small kitten four years ago, Smitty was tossed out of a vehicle this past summer.

Smitty looks like Mean Tom who comes over sometimes and tries to smack down Jayrod and Kevin. Barn cats are territorial

We live at the lake so people dump animals here all the time. They think if they can get water, all is good. We actually have had people leave cans of dog food when they drop them. Just like a dog can pull off the top.

That's terrible. We don't really see any dropoffs here, but most farmers want the barn cats, and they do tend to live a short life. Our neighbor had too many, so he dropped a box of them off to a family member at a nearby farm.

Baby Cakes doesn't care for him imposing on her home, but they are tolerating each other after 6 months! He doubled in size since he came in August.

My cats and Leon are doing a lot better. The cats will sleep on bed with Leon, but only jump on after he is asleep

Kevin and Jarod (barncats) lounge on the big porch and chase off the two neighbor dogs that come to visit.

My boy "Buddy" (right) was a stray 15 yrs ago. Someone miles away moved and just left his gate open. A neighbor of theirs reported them and took a picture of him to animal control. He showed up at our house days later and the rest is history. Mama donkey belongs to a neighbor behind us. They are selling the property, sold their cattle and abandoned her. I feed and take care of her, but cannot catch her. She is nearly 30 and going blind. Will probably call the donkey rescue to get her if it looks like the land will sell. But maybe whomever buys the place will want her, she's a great coyote deterant!

Older picture, she is 10 months now. I have sleep apnea. When my breathing goes south she wakes me up. A real life saver.

Chewie (Chewbacca). Chewbacca was derived from the Russian word for dog.

The neighbors mean dog is back today. My big, strong husband threw some pebbles at it. Lol. It ran home. Mom is afraid to let her old, small dog out because she might get hurt.

You did right. You know better than anyone when the quality of life isn't there, there is no joy, only pain for them. They can't do it easily, but we can help them to a better place. It's a bitch, but it's our place to help them when needed. I'll go cry some more, I feel your pain.

The paw that Leon stuck the glass in seemed to have healed. Vet released him, but 2 days later he had started gnawing at the pad on the paw. It was raw so I started wrapping it again. He kept ripping off the bandage and doing more damage.

I stopped by vet today and they said to give him a rather large dose of his calming meds and also a benadryl in case it was itching. He was in such a frenzy this morning when he got the bandage off, he snapped at me. I had to end up putting a sock over the wrap and then using duct tape.
