Every January 1st my wife cooks black eye peas.
I don't like them but I always have some to keep my wife happy.
I didn't really care for them until a few years ago. I know other people who do not like them. A friend of my daughter's brought some to our New Year's dinner once and they were the best. I have a pot of them cooking on the stove now, along with collard greens. Black-Eyed Peas with Bacon and Pork

Smothered steaks are about to go on. The steaks cook for two hours, so in a while after they've been cooking, I'll make some rice and cornbread.

After we eat, I'll make up some to go containers for friends and the freezer. For a meal like this, which I look forward to, I make lots, so there are plenty for freezer meals.

If you hear something scratching at the back door, it is this ole mangy dawg looking for a free meal

I had two pounds of black eyed beans for this year so I picked up two more pounds for next year.

I had 50 llbs each of navy and turtle beans for this year and picked up another 50 lbs each for next year. Things are getting crazy expensive up here and food prices are reaching for the sky, to the point that if the prepping isn't already done, it's not going to happen without winning the lottery.

TURD BOY refused to exempt farmers from the carbon tax and they going belly up. All part of the not so grand design. A can of beans at the store is $2.78

I make black eyed peas every January 1st. I made my kids each eat one. They didn’t like them. Today I put them in a tossed salad for hubby and I.
They do need lots of seasonings, imho. I use pork and bacon, onion, garlic, bay leaf, cayenne pepper, salt, black pepper, and eat them with rice and vinegary hot sauce.

My husband doesn’t like black-eyed peas either. Something in the taste that I can’t detect. He’s a supertaster — really picky about bitter tastes and too much ginger, but he likes most other things.

We had chickpeas — I cooked a bunch, froze some, and made a chickpea and acorn squash soup that turned out pretty well.

I can't stand black eyed peas. Always tasted like dirt no matter how much they were washed.
