Which prepper novels do you read...

I like William W. Johnstone, Firebase Freedom, Phoenix Rising, etc...very prophetic, considering things that are happening now, considering Johnstone died in '04.

I received my Johnstone novels yesterday. I look forward to reading more of his insightfulness.

Johnstone used to chat on AOL chat in some of the writers chat rooms and I got to IM with him after a few public chats. He was surprised at my views being I was on the bad guys ( in his books) side and I told him more of us thought the way he did than not.

I think I opened his eyes to the difference between both sides on paper was much less in reality

Wow, that list could keep me entertained for a couple years! I'll take you up on Patriots and day by day if I can find them.

Patriots is a tad Gung Ho bible thumping but very good none the less, one of the best thought out but the follow on books are just an excuse to ram the bible down your throat. Day by Day Armageddon series is consistently very well written, if you like DBDA you will also love The Morningstar Saga trilogy by ZA Recht

Well that sucks, I just ordered patriots from Amazon last night! Oh well, I'm not religious but will give it a go. :)

Patriots is actually superb and thought provoking and its impossible to put down, the bible thumping is very very slight in the Patriots, but the follow ons are dreadfully religious.

I'm looking fowards to reading it. I used to read constantly, but with the new business free time has been at a minimum. The good news is the business is doing really well so far.

Thanks, I just hope we continue as well as we have so far. I realize there are no gurantees in life, but am glad I am working for myself again, as I did most of mylife. The whole 40 hour work week thing takes to much of your time!

I like the "home" series by A.American . Seems to be the most realistic of the ones i have read .
I'm enjoying reading again so much that I'll add that to my list soon! Funny how you can forget how enjoyable something like reading can be. I guess I just got caught up in life a little too much.

I'm about half way thru patriots now, and your right, it's a really good read. I have only picked it up twice so far, and lost a few hours of sleep, but really worth it.

Follow it with Alas Babylon, Earth Abides and One Second After
Alas Babylon was the first prepping type book I read as a teenager, but will probably be re read before long. One second after seems familiar, but can't remember if I read it. I literally read thousands of books when I was younger. Either way, I really have forgotten how enjoyable reading is. Beats the depressing news on tv!

My top ten
1 Alas Babylon
2 Earth abides
3 One Second After
4 Day by day Armageddon
5 Patriots
6 Down to a Sunless Sea
7 Long Voyage Back
8 Lucifer's Hammer
9 299 days The Preparation
10 Day of the Triffids

Wow, if I take the time to read all those I won't have time to accomplish anything else! I did finish the patriots and agree it was worth reading. I'll probably try one second after next.

Right now I'm reading the Prepper series by Karl A.D. Brown. I've already read part 1 and 2 but its been a couple of years. He came out with part 3 so I wanted to reread 1&2 to refresh my memory.

Up until a few weeks ago my "Hasten The Day" trilogy of novels about the coming civil war and breakup of America remained my best sellers, but with the police shootings and growing divisions in the nation, my nonfiction book "The Balk" on Civil War II has eclipsed them.

Well the Texans and Californians have already noted the UKs seceding from the EU and are openly muttering about leaving the USof A to create a Mk2 Confederacy.

I wouldn't think the disparate cultures and political climates in Texas and California would meld well, unless both succumb to the invasion La Reconquistadores and become de jure regions of Aztlan. But I was speaking of the police shootings, massacres of cops, and the growing talk of civil war I'm hearing every day.
