My husband has been talking to a guy who lives in NNJ for a bit about prepping and all that. We were supposed to meet up a couple of times but he always seems to be busy (alert no 1). I get that we're all busy with life but.... Anyway, outside of trading a few emails and phone calls (the hubby talks to him, I won't) he calls and leaves two, four min msgs last week after the State of the Union. This guy was hammered at the time. He was rambling that he would never hurt himself, how the gov't this and the gov't that and then went back to the "I'd never kill myself" thing (alert no 2).
Last night my hubby suggest they talk via that video msg thing on FB. I will NOT allow anyone to my home that I have not spoken to, in person, first. The video chat thing, to me, means that you're serious about meeting up (although the person chatting online could be different in person which is why I (we) require meeting in person. We have a lot at stake with our preps, life, privacy, etc....
Anyway, this guy said he wouldn't use FB or Skype or anything like that because the CIA is watching us (alert no 3)! I feel, at this point, that this guy is a waste of time and probably more of a danger then a benefit to bring into our circle. It really sounds as if he wants to start a modern day revolution and I told my hubby to just let it go.
To me, it's people like him (and that guy who kidnapped the 5 y/o) that make the rest of us hard working people look like we're insane and that ticks me off! It's bad enough that when we tell certain people that we are prepping (and I'm thankful for that or we would have been screwed during Sandy) they look at us sideways. I don't think someone like this guy should be called a prepper or any part of our circle.
What do you think about the media, and people, portraying us as crazy? Sorry for the early morning rant.
