Prepping Domestics

As a follow on from the Prepping and dogs argument I thought a prepping domestic thread would be a good idea. Here's the latest from myself and partner Seven...

Snowflake: We have a small garden to the front and rear of our house, I think we should only plant things for prepping. I put in a small Apple tree and plan to do raised veg boxes but Sevens no happy!

Seven: Thinks we should only plant pretty things that would make the house look good and add value...Sometimes I wonder who should wear the trousers/pants in our house!

So what do you think...Fruit and veg or flower bed's?

might try both..foods for everyday eating and prepping..and the pretty stuff.especially if the pretty stuff can be used to advantage..like rose bushes in front of the windows.who's gonna want to go through a bunch of thorns just to go through a window that might cut you up any way?

Good point, plant for security.

my mom had bought a rose bush/vine.i planted it in front of a living room window last year.it's already have parts thats grown up past the eve's on the house.and it's spread out wider then the window..plus it has areas where i can shoot between for protection if needed..now im thinking of doing same with other windows..

Do a bit of research for your area and find pretty plants or flowering plants that keep certain bugs and pests away or ones that enhance your others plants.

Feel free to add your light hearted prepping domestics here! As we can't be the only couple having them or you can just lol at mine.

actually .. some edible plants are pretty. Dandelions are edible and look pretty good... chillis and tomatos are a bright cheery red which adds color to the bushes. Its really what you grow choose some that are useful which can be ornamental too... here in the tropics, we grow alot of pandan grass and lemon grass, looks quite nice when grown alone .. (nice ball of green) and the fragrance... oh the fragrance... pandan keep cockroaches away, lemon grass keep mosquitoes away ... multiple uses ...
