Edit. I quoted the wrong book, so let me edit:

48 Hours by Forstchen.

In 48 hours, the Earth was hit with by two Coronal Mass Ejection (CME) from the Sun, or two "Carrington Events." This book had the similar theme of an initial and a subsequent hit as described in Sourdough's link.

It takes the earth time to recover from a major CME. If we have a 2nd CME when the earths shield hasn't recovered, we are toast. This is the book I intended to quote. Very good book that goes into great detail over the science and a discussion of previous historical CMEs and the impact on the earth. In this book, the story line follows the panic and behavior of the world that knows they only have 48 more hours to live, and only so many people can fit into the caves and hiding places. A lot of the book goes into the "Continuity of Government" functions, and from a previous life, it is fairly accurate of what our government will do to survive at your expense. Two major events happened in real recent history, one in the 1800s and one early in the 1900s. The book provides this history as well.

Apologize for my initial incorrect book. I guess this happens when one reads so many books!

And yes, the book has the flaws that others and I mentioned.

Agreed. It was a good book, but needed character development or something.

That is kind of the weakness in his books. A lot of great information but you have to wade through an amateurish plot/characters. But don‘t let this stop anyone from reading the book if you are interested in this science. Forget the story and read for the knowledge.

Sorry, I posted the wrong book above, Let me repost above and here:

I don't know anything about this except what I read. Guess its all according to where you live.

Not really, a double CME, if both were equal to the 1800 and the 1900 Carrington event would result in extinction of most life on this earth. The more sophisticated government know this and have built the shelters for selected people to survive, maybe. But the complexes have been built for Continuation of Government, but all of their subjects will be dead.

Well that doesn't sound goodat all. Not sure if the "son" will get us or the 'sun' will. Man or moon won't matter that much we'll be just as dead I guess.

The Son is our savior, and our only hope for this or any other issues we face. You are 100% correct!

Well not exactly who I was refering to but yes that is even better.
In the parable about the prepared and unprepared virgins the bridegroom was Christ. While preparedness was "being cool with God" there is often a double entendre in Biblical lessons.

Ben, that is spelled "interpretation".
