I was scheduled to remove my stitches today. 11 days after my surgery. I really didnt feel like leaving the house so the wife and i decided to just do iy ourselves.
First of all i set up a pot with water to boil the tools in.
In the meantime i took a long hot shower to soak my head really good and let the skin get soft.
After that i took the sterile tools out of the water and set everything up.
Thats my wound. It healed up pretty nicely.
The problem we came across is that my wound wasnt a clean cut and more like a round hole and because of that the stitch knots were very tight and close to my skin.
My wife had to actually pull up the strings and cut under them.
After she was able to cut the side without the knot she could easily pull out the string.
After everything was removed i cleaned the wound and let it now air dry.
It was the first time any of us did something like that and were not trained in medicine at all.
