I want one. One of the really good ones, like the Rooskies are building. Especially if somebody else will pay for it & do most of the work. Otherwise, I guess my buried milk truck will continue to have to suffice.

......I call bullcrap. I don't reckon they've got anything near bada$$ enough to "destroy an area the size of France or Texas"...at all.

I guess russia is fixing to test there new missile the satan 2 with a 40mt warhead so they say but a 40mt? hmm, so much for the MIRVs, apparently russia is still fixated with the power of the mt's on SIVs so I guess the US and Europe will carry on.... twiddling their thumbs *sigh

If your age is correct? By the time you come of age of understanding the cold war was supposedly over thus very little evidence remains of what was, what putin is doing (on the surface anyway) is prepping for a nuclear war. So is this a good thing perhaps for him but gives the world (that remembers the past) a pause followed up with 'shxt' in other words 'Cold War II' is starting or is it that the first one never ended (left up to interpretation)
yeah, but that's the thing, even if there is a war, it is a COLD war, bunkers aren't a sign of a COLD war...
Bunkers were/are a big part of the cold war! Also put it in the context of the geopolitical environment we/world are in now. There is also a reason why the new russian bunkers made the news in the West.
Can be, can't debate it.. there can be so many reasons, hope not the worst ones..

Generally bunkers are meant for war, no other reason other than lets say the ice age? global warming? though I don't think that the case.
My country was riddled with bunkers and redoubts some the size of small towns during the Cold War.
Y'see whilst our governments ( US & Brit) were telling us TWO things (1) No one can survive a nuclear war. (2) it is pointless and not cost effective to build mass civilian shelters. Those very same Repub/Demo/ Tory / Labour governments were building bunkers all over the place with TAX money for themselves ( Greenbrier / Corsham) and spending their own personal wealth building bunkers and shelters for their families. Both the Brit and Yank general public at large were baffled by ******** and propaganda and they believed all the official bovine faeces. Meanwhile the RICH, POWERFUL, INFORMED and INSIDERS were building themselves private bunkers all over the world from the Aussie outback to south Island NZ, to the West Indies, To Nevada to the Appalachians to the Rockies, to Scotland to the French , Italian Austrian and Swiss Alps. Plus one other small section of inspired early visionaries called SURVIVALISTS ( who were set up by the bunker building elite to be ridiculed) people like Mel Tappan, Ragnar Benson, Bruce Beach etc lead the survivalist response and informed free thinkers that with investment, training and preps they COULD survive a nuclear war providing the bomb did not land on their house.
