Ever had this bread before?

I've had it before, trained a couple russian engineers once. Went with them to a place in San Fran for real russian food. Honestly, I didn't care for it. Not a big fan of rye, coffee or fennel. If you like those you'll probably like it, a little on the heavy side, stick to your ribs food.

I will add, those guys got some americanized black bread at a bakery for sandwiches (they were here for 2 months). I liked it a lot more than what I had at the restaurant. Still not something I would buy but it was okay.

Make some and give us a report. I'd like to see what you come up with. :)

Yes... Very interested in how it turns out.. Please report..
Occasionally I would get a loaf of very dark rye bread from a little bakery coffee shop in small town Wisconsin.. VERY good.. But then I don't mind a heavier ..stick to your ribs.. kind of bread..

lets see if @sonya123 has baked this or knows of it .

I baked something very similar yesterday for us, but no molasses, don't like it. No coffee either and no vinegar. Not sure whey those need to be there. It's pretty close to Swedish rye bread. I was too busy to make the sourdough so I made that
plus I used bread seasoning which has fennel, caraway seed and a little cardamon ( ground it up in spice grinder)

Too hot to slice yet.
