Last week, just a couple of days after the horrific shooting in Georgia. My nieces son. N8, decided to take 2 knives and a torch ( map gas, hand held) with him to school and announced he was going to kill ( Cody).
He was arrested and was to see the judge today

Update. He saw a judge and has to get an evaluation After the Eval, Probation or acute care in a psych type place

I’m sure sorry Frodo. We need to take our kids out of public schools. If he didn’t get the idea from home, he got it at school. At home we can at least protect them to some degree.
(((Hugs)))

I am shaking my head while at the same time trying to see what signs I missed. ****, kid is just a regular high school *******. Who HAS Been BULLIED. I am not saying that is an excuse
but what I am saying is. If bullied.... kick some ass , go nutso. Stomp the fi---er.
Guess what? In 20 years, you will laugh about it. Or you can shoot him and get out of prison in 20. Your choice

Thank you ❤️

Sorry to hear all of that, once they get into the system they are marked.
Hope you get some good council that knows the ropes.

Man I will tell you now anger is high in the school systems these day, being slapped down every time you get up because of who you are NOT, or being told you are some ignorant label, watching some just get away with anything and others that cant be touched for whatever reason is wearing deeply into the minds we should be nurturing and protecting.

My cousins son blew up and pulled a shotgun on the cops and just tried to make them shoot him when he was in the 10th grade.

It is crazy out there and as long as the system does not stop and revert to days gone by when school was a REAL family and it was there to make good, moral, satisfied, capable adults instead of social misfits that are doomed to failure.

I my self fuged up up as a kid and am thankful the system allowed probation. FORthe FIRST time. The second time was my decision. No one else's

Times have changed.

I was bullied and dropped an arm load of books on the back his head when he wasn't looking. Beat him silly before I was pulled off. He got the same detention as me. ( He eventfully was knifed in prison as I have been told).

My son uddered the wrong words a few months after Columbine and had a rough time of it but came through it in the end.

I will pray for him that his cry for help is answered.

Ben

I am sorry to hear of this. It's got to be very tough for your family.

On the other hand, I'm glad he was arrested. This could have gotten much worse for everybody really fast if he hadn't been. Arresting him was the correct response - the only response really. As sad as it is.

It may sound harsh, but I don't think probation is the way to go here. That may give the family relief in the short term, but I doubt it would help the kid in the long term. And I have my doubts about psych treatment too. I don't really trust that. Normally I don't believe jail treats anything either. It's a punishment, not a path to recovery. But if this is a first offense by a kid who's been good up to this point, maybe that could scare some sense into him. He is lucky he didn't cross the line, but he did go right up there and touch it with his toe. This is a difficult one to figure out how to manage, and end up actually helping the kid. I'm sorry your family is having to go through this. I can't even imagine what that would be like. I wouldn't know what to do myself, but I wish you the best of luck in getting it done, whatever that ends up entailing.

Teen years are hard on any kid. Mine were like Neb’s when blew my stack Varsity wrestling coach/jr high gym teacher came out and stopped me. Only after my oppressor had been humiliated.
Gym teacher asked me next day why I waited so long.

30 yrs later, nobody messed with my son in 8th grade. He had a varsity letterman’s jacket for wrestling. The problem was the HS administrators. His ‘vice principal’ who followed him for 4 years (and I should say hounded him) was a classmate of his mother. She made it her special project to bring him down. Why? Her brother had health problems due to stupid stuff we wrestlers did in the 70’s
My kid is now a correction officer and a 200lb monster up from 140.
No thanks to his vice principal.
When he was 12, I gave him a shotgun. It was locked in my gun cabinet unless we were hunting , that’s good parenting Be involved, be on top of things

I put this out on how to parent, not as a critisim of anyone else.
