I kind of wondered why I never had any of those issues or even made thumb burger in my M1...
Good excuse for an M-1 tip:
I shoot my M1 LEFT HANDED! Yes, every DI since Patton just rolled over in their grave, BUT as a lefty rifleman, it's natural for me to block the charging handle with my whole hand, so even if the bolt trips, I get no M1 thumb.
