I'm not sure the best place for this, but wanted to let you folks know. If it's better in another category, feel free to move it.

I recently received both an email (which my cc does not have) and a snail-mail letter from my credit card company and amazon. They, without my consent, linked the accounts so I could spend my rewards points at amazon. I DID NOT AUTHORIZE OR SIGN UP FOR THIS! I do not let the computer store my CC account number or bank info. Amazon had both my bank account number and my CC number on file  I did speak with a very helpful man at my CC company who walked me through how to nix my financial accounts from amazon. Maybe this is something you feel comfortable with, but I am not.
To check, log into your amazon acct. Go to payment options in the middle of the screen. It will list if it has your bank acct. number &/or CC number. If you choose not to let amazon store this info., click edit and "remove from wallet."

I obviously have ordered from amazon, but am not cool with them having my info.

I use non-reloadable Visa gift cards to pay bills and shop online. No info in anyone's hands. Ya gotta be so careful these days!

I buy NOTHING from Amazon.
Any sales outlet that wants to store my info gets nothing.
I wanted to buy a lawn mower from Home depot. They didn't carry it in the store so I was told to buy it online..... they wanted too much information. After a bit of stress relieval I went to the store and had them order it and I paid with cash. No problem!

I'm heading this direction more and more.

I HAVE an Amazon CC. They are doubtless amazed at my consumption of Cat food, Cat Toys, Cat beds, dog toys, donations to local shelters, etc, ad Nauseum. Right now, on this board, is an ad for Chewy, paid for with said CC. When you know they know and they know you know, the game is afoot :p

Other purchases are made with other means.

The ads I am shown seem to be a result of what I watch on Youtube but not Amazon. They seem to think I really want to see this ad.

When it comes on I ask The Princess "what exactly are they selling?"

Them having your bank account info is a no-no! That is REAL money. Them having the CC info is no problem.
If they charge whatever/unauthorized to your CC and you catch it on your statement and notify the CC company, it is their problem, not yours.
Let Amazon have all the fun they want with the CC account, it's not your money... unless you don't do what I highlighted in red above. :(

Smart. And, for those sites that won't take 'Gift Cards', Fwiw, I've been really happy with 'Serve', from Amex.. https://www.serve.com/ They don't charge a 'per-transaction fee', nor to 'reload', just $6.99 / month flat-rate, and cha-ching all ya want, meantime.. (Well, I suppose you might have a hard time putting a Lamborghini on it, but.. ;) Short of that kidding, they're just a 'smart, Alt-option', Imo..

..the 'Great Reset'....

Why would I pay a company a monthly fee, when I can use money someone else (the CC company) will put at risk, for free?
For a whopping $6.99 I better get extra cheese!:waiting:

I click on the ad and order a something now and then, makes a couple cents for the forum.

..Because then a) it's Moar Debt.. 😬 Sure, you can 'pay it off', etc, but.. Still affects yer 'credit score' / rating, meantime (Limit to Balance-ratio, etc..)

..That Particular card, only 'charges you' the $6.99 IF / as you Use it.. 'Dormant' costs you nothing.. (though, eventually, they'd prolly close it, ie: Zero use for a year, etc..) And, they afford you the same 'Fraud Protections' that their CC's offer, meantime..

..and b) being 'On-Need' / Demand, only, means there's only ever as much 'liability' as you Load it up with..

Options, Mon Frére , options.. 👍

It could be worse.
The only thing they have on me right now is my zipcode and location.
So I get to watch ads today for which politicians to vote for in the November 4th election that will improve drainage in case we should flood again. 😦
