There has been sightings in East Tennessee in the Smokies and were indigenous throughout the Southeast centuries ago . Looking at the map they could cone down through Virginia through the Smokey Mountains then follow the Rivers here . Mountain Lions have been caught on trail cams across the State . TWRA changed their Cougar message fron they are not here to there is not a breeding population here .View attachment 9562
Very unusual to see one in Tennessee!! Poor little fella musta got lost! Bet he/she is lonely!
That makes sense . We occasionally get black bear here that travel from East Tennessee to middle Tennessee . The porcupine in the picture had a den according to My Cousin that took the picture .
Could be , alot or People keed Hedgehogs but I wouldn't think many People keep porcupine . They are quite dangerous .Escaped pet perhaps??

The area between Knoxville and Chattanooga is like a valley between the East Tennessee Great Smokey Mountains and Our Cumberland Mountains / Plateau here a river system including the Tennessee River runs between them . Theres alot of remote areas that see little to no Human activity . The mid South is like that one minute your in urban sprawl a few miles later your surrounded by wilderness .Erm Amtrak or Greyhound??
Ive never seen one here. Thank goodness. I have seen several dead armadillos. Never a live one though
One needs to be careful around armadillos, they are one of the carriers of leprosy
But they only carry it until their arms fall offOne needs to be careful around armadillos, they are one of the carriers of leprosy
