i just got the first issue of a new subscription of Mother Earth news. One article I just read talked about using good quality solar lawn lights as lighting in your home during power outages. They are self contained, easily charged during the day and portable. The article said the better ones have a two year battery life. It seems like a pretty simple idea that should be available at any home improvement store. I will look into some to compare quality and costs.
