I just bought 11 24packs of toilet paper, and several paper towel packs. It was on sale so decided I was going to need some anyways. I'm with gaz on this, when something presents a deal, that's when I jump. I do make lists, and work towards them, but sales really help steer me one way or another.

Luckily, my preps have come in handy in other situations, so it got the wife on board a little more with the whole idea. Especially since I present it in more of an "any situation" kind of light. Not just SHTF, but any setback at all. Even if that setback is just an unexpected bill that week, etc.

I also try and consider an immediate use/need for a prep, or at least a potential NOW benefit.

One thing to keep in mind, supplies ain't crap without knowledge and attitude. All failsafe devices needs to fall back to the mind. One needs to learn to survive without tools and supplies! For the most part cramming the mind with useful information is generally free such as learning to forage for food utilizing the natural vegetation around one's location, prepping isn't about just supplies ;)

RIGHT ON! Mind set is everything!
Examples. I can't swim, never could. So why was I with my cousin in a canoe in the
wilderness of the Boundary Waters in a wind storm.
"It won't happen to me."
IT DID.
We capsized the thing at least 50 yards from shore in 45 degree water.
My 6' cousin is a good swimmer. HE PANICKED.
I had to rescue him.
I didn't panic, kept my cool, floated, grabbed the over turned canoe, grabbed cousin by
the hair and kicked us to shore.
I had to build the fire and help him get dry as he was terrified and in shock.
Go figger.
In police work I learned to never panic even when shot at.
RUN but don't panic. Thus I avoided taking a bullet in the three gun fights I was in
and avoid getting stabbed.
Got me arse beat though!:mad::mad:

Gee I even recall when a "lady" threw her BABY at me!
I instinctively ducked and the baby hit the back of a couch and I caught it before
it hit the floor.
Then I did bad things to the witch! oooopps.
Child services took the child and gave it back after she completed parenting
classes.
Really?
