In People's Republik of Kalifornistan, they are beginning a $.30 per mile road tax on EV's, I've been told starts July 1st, 2024. I was also told they will try this $.30 per mile on all cars, gas AND electric, and are offering $400 for any fools (I MEAN VOLUNTEERS) who want to be the first to begin with this Beta Test.

"Coming to your state REAL soon!"

No matter you drive it has already been taxed 24 times before it rolled one inch down the road. Then they tax it again every single day until its in the junkyard. Electric, gas, propane or flintstone mobile. Youre gonna pay.

"Coming to your state REAL soon!"

Does it really matter? I mean the government has going rogue in spending, even more than usual. Sooner or later they will have to raise money somehow because they have spent more than is coming it. Road tax, gas tax or take certain eye colors, it doesn't matter as long as they get more money coming it. We are paying about 50% of our income in taxes if you really analyze it. The only way that they won't need more is for the economy to improve & for people to start making more money so that they can tax it. That is NOT going to happen with those leaders we have today because every move they make is going to do the opposite. Want to make more money, invest in the makers of Vaseline because it's use will skyrocket in the future. And sadly, I can't say that we don't deserve it.

A mileage tax.

They've been working on that for a long time.

You car will report your mileage.

Only if you have a new car. They currently do not have the ability to verify mileage on older cars, unless they trust us. Well, we all know that won't happen!
I have 2 old vehicles that only have to have the speedo cable disconnected and there is no way to track the mileage. Speed? Go with the flow but we all know from experience we can judge our speed just by the look out the windshield.
They will mandate a device for older cars.
It would have to be some sort of GPS device that would need a connection to the battery and/or an antenna. Disconnect the wire or wrap the antenna in aluminium foil and they wont be able to track the movement. Or, take it out 5 or 6 days a week.
I dunno, they might have a special plan to overcome this but it is tough to track without some sort of computer.

All this nonsense started due to the electric cars not paying their fair share of road tax. Honestly, the Gub/ment only needs to deal with these pansy mobiles and we all know they can quickly charge them based on the KW's consumed since those cars are pure electronic. Leave us "Dinosaur Juice" drivers alone!

To fill a Tesla in California, now costs you $72 to drive 230 miles. My lexus hybrid costs me $55 to fill up, and has a 500 mile range. Who is screwing whom, Mr. President?
I just had a thought. I wonder when someone will build a trailer with a battery bank so EV's can travel further between charges.
