How many have been watching this show? I only recently learned about and tuned in. It was a bit difficult for me to get through the first few episodes, but it really grew on me and by the time I was at the end of the first season I was thoroughly hooked.
In the beginning, the show is about colonies on Mars and mining colonies in the asteroid belt (the "Belters") that rebel against Earth and against each other.
Acting and writing, I thought, were superb. One thing that really impressed me about the show was the fact that although it is a show about space set in the future, there was actually very little science fiction and a ton of science fact. The laws of physics aren't magically suspended (well except for the "alien thing"). No rubber faced aliens, gravity plating, transporters, replicators, phasers, warp drives, etc. Communication from Earth to Mars has a long delay. People die from excessive G forces when they stop too fast. People who grow up in low gravity have fragile bones and other realistic health issues. Unsecured objects in a spacecraft cause injuries. Artificial gravity is either from acceleration or centripetal force. When a ship stops accelerating, everything goes to zero gravity.
Their portrayal of zero gravity was, as far as I could tell, flawless. They even had someone get all teary eyed in zero gravity and the tears just filled the persons eye and didn't drip. People with internal injuries in zero gravity were screwed because the blood couldn't drain. Etc. etc. etc.
And Cara Gee is a total BADASS
There will be at least two more seasons.
