I know many dangerous men. Guys that have really big hearts and will help anyone who asks for it. However, if you push them by threatening their family, land, or morals.....they will strike. When they do, it won't be pretty. Even though my hubby isn't necessarily a 'muscle' man like Arnold, he's one strong dude. He works like a horse and puts in long hours doing it without complaint, even though he doesn't have to. He knows things and (if pushed) would be a formidable adversary. He is the kindest person I know, but he is smart and could unleash the pain if pushed. I have never seen him do it, but I know it's there. I trust him with my life.

That's not to undercut the mama bears either. There are some dangerous women out there too, thankfully. They are REAL women. Women who don't care who you are if you mess with their kids. They will strike in a heartbeat.....and I don't mean pulling hair and scratching with fingernails. Mama bears are definitely stronger and smarter than that. Put a dangerous man and a real woman together and that's what the LIBS hate. They are the stronghold of goodness and godliness. I have a feeling that we have a lot of dangerous men and mama bears here on this forum.

That was kinda the point. Many peaceful men are dangerous. It really has nothing to do with violence or killing.

Some of the most dangerous men I know are quiet low-profile types, not drawing a lot of attention to themselves... until some fool crosses the line and things go down. Then these guys are like tornadoes with martial arts skills, lol. Like the OP, I think many site members here are capable of defending themselves...

Dangerous doesn't just mean violence. A man can be mistreated at work, for instance. He may not lash out. He may simply start putting together the facts. He may record the incidents and evidence to support his story. And then once things are pushed too far, he can present those facts to the people who matter, and suddenly the people who are mistreating him are no longer employed.

There are other ways to be dangerous as well. The mind is the greatest weapon. The man who teaches others right from wrong, and why it's right or wrong, is no less dangerous than the strongest warrior, in my opinion...

I agree with many in this thread. No doubt there are quite a few "dangerous" folks on here. I dare say most of them are pretty quite, smart people. Flip the wrong switch of theirs and you will pay the price. IMO most loud mouths are more about talking a good game, backing it up would be a different story. And yes Spike a being dangerous with your mind, whether it comes to violence or not, is highly effective.
I saw a video or 2 on you tube awhile back that discussed this topic to some degree. I'll try and relocate them and post here

Amen, do not underestimate a mama bear or an old guy like me with white hair or non at all, we've lived long enough not to worry about giving our lives to stand up to evil, I don't have a backhoe but I know of places that the wildlife will clean up the aftermath.

All the good intentions and I coulds and I used to don't mean a lot if you don't stay physically and mentally in shape and practice. Wether that is stacking 50 pound (20 kilo) bags of soil amendments over your head, training at the dojo or hitting the range weekly or figuring out local politics.

Just being as fit as is reasonable will put you ahead of a large portion of older people. I don't have a chance in a physical confrontation with someone 30 years old but another person my age or some younger people that act old I am ready for. Plus the mental aspect and awareness comes into play.

a large proportion of the UK population is obese, as much as at least one third if not half, so much so that it is classified as a health crisis.
diabetis is also a national problem.
so being healthy and free of these conditions puts us ahead of the herd.

This is the attitude I have to take, at 80 years on this planet, my feet hurt so I can't run, but I can walk pretty fast, can't climb the mountains like I used to do, but my aim is still good, even with no light. So it seems, like Supervisor42 said, I too am plenty "dangerous" without physical conditioning.

I agree with most everything mentioned above, but as I have said for many years, even when I was a Police Officer, I look forward to the day that the government makes me a felon for possessing a firearm. Because, felons do not have to follow or obey any law and that is a game changer in the reality of life. Back that up with the mindset of I may not be the biggest dog in a fight but if you have the mindset to win you can overcome a stronger opponent who is afraid to lose. When I was a LEO I had the mindset that if I die I wont lose any sleep over it, and that is a difficult mindset to overcome no matter how tough an opponent "thinks" they may be.
But, just to be more practical in my current phase of life I like the AT&T method of defense, "Reach out and touch somebody". I am capable of reaching out several hundred yards or more. I will do all I can to avoid a problem or talk my way out of it (I never had to fight any "sane" person as a Police Officer because I could always talk them down) but if anyone ever tries to hurt family or loved ones the rule that applies is to win. Period.

I think that right there is the KEY. A dangerous man (or woman) is willing to die for what they hold most dear, without thought or hesitation. The 'thought' over that stance has already been done long before the moment when it matters. Most dangerous men and mama bears will willingly and gladly take a bullet for their kids. I'd do so no matter how old I was or how old my kids were. I imagine as a cop you would do so for kids you don't even know. Thankfully you probably didn't have to do so, but you have my respect for having that mindset. Thank you for your service sir.

Tommyrice.....that scene is spot on and reminds me of the one in Yellowstone 1923 when Spencer (briefly at the 5 minute mark below) just wanted to be left alone, but was goaded into fighting his wifes X. He repeatedly said he wanted no part of it. The X took drastic measures to make sure he couldn't walk away by saying nasty things about his wife. So, he relented, knowing that with a 3 week trip trapped on a boat with him that he wouldn't be able to walk away and may even pose a threat to his wife. He gave his opponent the option of choosing the weapon to fight with. The X chose a sword, of which Spencer had no real experience with, yet the X was proficient in. Spencer didn't care one bit.....he already knew what the outcome would be. The X fought with the sword, using the rules he had always used. Spencer had the sword in his hand, but only used it as defense to deflect advances and used the tools of combat he was proficient in. As an avid hunter, Spencer knew when you fight to the death.....there are no rules. The X learned that the hard way. Even though it's just a TV show, there is a good lesson there.

Viking - It doesn't matter how old you are. If you still have your brainpower (which is clearly evident that you do) you are dangerous. You have the wisdom to know when to hold em and when to fold em. That is nothing that youngsters should mess with. I think many youth vastly over rate their ability to take on a wise old man or woman. Many have found out the hard way that it's not as easy as they may think. The older folks may not have the reflexes or strength that they once did, but they probably forgot more things than the youngsters will ever learn, especially these days. Mental strength can definitely make one dangerous.
