I imagine most tried to get out of the ship, and since then, got carried away by currents, their bodies soon disappearing into the ocean. Following that, those trapped inside would have been fish food, and over the course of decades until discovery, would have been completely disassembled and taken away by predators. It doesn't take long for the ocean to pretty much dispose of anything biologic.
