As a PH I have done a lot of animal tracking. Easiest in early morning. It is slow and boring to anyone watching a tracker work.Anyone here good at tracking,
Actually, I meant human tracking and I suppose I was thinking about that because of Tom tracking and finding missing/lost people. As a PH I have done a lot of animal tracking. Easiest in early morning. It is slow and boring to anyone watching a tracker work.
Tracking is based on sign. Bent grass, broken limbs. Turned over gravel. Sometimes it's necessary to look at different angles because discrepancies will show up under different light. A stride stick can be helpful. A stride stick is a walking stick that marks the gait of who is being tracked. Any sign should be with in that distance. The smallest thing can show, a smudge/twist in grass or whatever. Tracks will also tell the direction being traveled. For practice have a friend walk ahead on a soft dirt road. Determine a stride length. The toe depth will determine direction. Have them go in soft dirt and then grassy, high grass, dewy grass. Things will start coming togetherActually, I meant human tracking and I suppose I was thinking about that because of Tom tracking and finding missing/lost people.
