about 2 months ago the dog comes home with a wire snare dug into his back leg,,,,,now I am no fan of trapping, and that is all I will say about that,,,but the dogs leg was beyond saving and I have become quite fond of the big bugger,he meets me almost every night and escorts me down the road,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,until this happened,,,Joe the owner is barely getting by and could not afford a to pay a big vet bill,,,,I could not stand the idea of the dog wasting away and dying so I talked to the guy and we made a deal as to get the dog fixed up,,,he owes me $50 a month until the bill is paid in full,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

a foolish endeavor yeah most likely,,,,but tonight the big fella came bouncing out of his yard and down the road we went just like old time,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,MONEY WELL SPENT IN MY EYES,,,,

IF THE GUY DOES NOT PAY ME BACK I WILL REPO THE DOG,,,,,

Aww. . . That is heartwarming. :) You did a good thing there my friend. Too many people dont appreciate the love an animal gives. You do and care about this pup. It was most definitely money well spent. You can now enjoy the friendship you have with eachother. Thank you for doing that. You probably made the owner very happy too.

Over my lifetime I've learned that a dog is so much more than just a pile of fur with teeth that eats and poops. My dog is my best friend and I'd do anything for him, just like he'd do anything for me.
Like others have said, a dog won't let you down like many people do, they're always glad to see you, they're always honest with you and they ask nothing in return other than a kind word and pat on the head.

that's why I prefer dogs to (most) people!

Lots and dog and cats around the house. The past couple of weeks have been very interesting, at least for wifey. A neighbor (NOT a well respected neighbor) brought in several "odd" pets that just roam the neighborhood. Amount them is a Turkey and a couple geese. When someone comes into the area, the Turkey will ruffle it's feather and approach whoever it is. But, it is a real friendly bird. My granddaughter will sit down and the turkey will sit beside her so she can pet the turkey. The geese, will start their "honking" but again are real friendly. Wifey, lets them feed out of her hand. People refer to these as the neighborhood guard birds. :)

Last week, one of the geese stopped eating and avoided my wife. She saw some blood on it's feathers. Wifey took the bird (the goose will let her pick it up and not fight her) and found the peek has been broken and it could not eat (maybe hit by a car?). Stayed at the vet for several day and it now been staying in my house for several day. (Plastic swimming pool and a plastic liner for it to stay in). It's mate will come in the house a couple times per day to visit. Today is the day it will be let back outside. It has now started to eat on it's own and gaining strength. ..... All this for a stupid goose. :p

Giving credit where due, the Vet drastically cut his bill and the follow up visits have been free. Only pay for the MEDS. A neighbor comes over every day and helps give the MEDS and helps with the care. The owners just said, let it die. It's only a bird.

I am proud and honored to have heard of your endeavor to save his dog and how you finished the job. Not many persons like you left in this hate filled world. Keep up the good work, everything you do always comes back, the good and the bad. I tip my hat. GP
PS, if he can't pay, tell me. I'll help just because it was a good cause.

Ditto. Look how many working dogs are in the Army, Firedept. and Airports. They are collegues and friends, not "just another dog".
An old friend from Tennesse once said, "mess with me and I'll punch you, mess with my wife and we're gonna have a knock-down-drag-out, mess with my dog and you're a dead man." A good hunting dog will feed the whole family for many years.

here he is several weeks after the vet visit
