Looking at the current chart, we could save 1% by eliminating non military international aid, eliminating 3% of all other (which is mostly unneccessary spending on state projects to buy votes, do away with the Social Security tax system and replace with a efficient system that also pays out nothing to certain high tax brackets (could reduce the 24% by 6-10 %, and you would reduce the 35% of safety net, medicaid costs as you increase the work force. The 6% spent on interest would be lower as you spent less and taxed income increased.

My opinion is that every department and program in the Federal government should be cut by at least 50%, no exceptions, with many departments and programs totally eliminated. All foreign aid should be eliminated, most welfare programs should be eliminated and all welfare to illegals should be completely eliminated and then be deported immediately. All savings should be passed on to the tax payers in the form of much lower taxes. If the states choose to continue with the current socialist system and welfare programs then the states can fund these programs within their own state. Social Security should be eliminated for everyone now entering the work force. And for those already in the SS system they should be given the choice to have their fund converted to an IRA, 401k or paid out in a lump sum once they hit retirement age. I'm capable of investing my own money far better than any socialist government system can. Also SS should not be paid out to anyone who did not pay in to it.

I am far more inclined to be willing to feed people than just say cut everything. I don’t agree a lot with Religar, but read somewhere where he stated that we don’t have a tax problem as much as a spending problem. One area we do agree on.... no doubt there are a lot of crap programs our govt could cut out, but I hope we all remember espechially during the holiday season, it’s not all bad to help those really in need out a little.

I've got no problem with feeding the "poor", just not with my tax dollars. The government is too incompetent to run any kind of charity program efficiently or effectively. The problem with government (one of many) is to grow government, not to actually solve a problem, i.e., the war on drugs, war on terror, etc.

Helping others out with the neccessities in life is something we all should do, but not the US government. Its not in the Constitution.
Brent if you send the IRS all the money that you will save on the tax cuts, they will take it and you will feel better.
